Qué te inspiró

The inspiration came from observing both the waste of fresh flowers and the loss of natural sensory experiences in fast-paced modern life. Unlike traditional passive fragrance products, I aimed to encourage users to actively engage by cutting and combining paper-based flowers, sparking creativity and rekindling their connection to scents and nature. The use of sustainable paper materials also reduces resource waste, inviting users to experience beauty while reflecting on environmental responsibility and the possibilities of coexistence with nature, creating a freer and more participatory olfactory experience.

Cómo funciona

The Floral Fragrance Machine is equipped with a micro ultrasonic system and scent-release modules. When users cut and combine different paper-based flowers, the embedded metal wires are detected, triggering the ultrasonic system to disperse fragrances at varying concentrations. Different combinations of flowers create rich, layered olfactory experiences. The device operates through simple physical triggers, ensuring intuitive and eco-friendly use while preserving the hands-on, creative essence of natural crafting.

Proceso de diseño

The design process consisted of four main stages. First, inspired by the issues of flower waste and the loss of natural sensory experiences, we defined a concept centered on paper-based flowers and olfactory interaction. Next, through material experiments, we selected paper that could both be easily crafted and embedded with fragrance microcapsules and metal wires for recognition. In the technical development stage, a micro ultrasonic airflow system was designed and tested to ensure that different flower combinations triggered distinct scent dispersions. Finally, during the user experience design phase, we focused on optimizing the tactile feel of cutting and the rhythm of scent release, creating a smooth, playful, and immersive creative experience.

What sets this design apart is its fusion of traditional fragrance experiences with hands-on creation. Users can cut and combine paper flowers to actively participate in the scent-making process. Unlike conventional fragrance products, users can feel and create unique scents based on their personalized combinations. Additionally, the use of ultrasonic airflow technology and metal wire recognition systems ensures an eco-friendly and interactive design, reducing the resource waste common in fragrance products, and providing a more engaging and environmentally conscious experience.

Planes para el futuro

In the future, the design of the Floral Fragrance Machine will expand to include more flower materials and scent combinations, creating a richer, more personalized experience. We also plan to integrate a smart control system via a mobile app, allowing users to adjust scent intensity and variation, enhancing interactivity and user experience. To further align with our environmental ethos, we aim to use biodegradable materials and collaborate with sustainability organizations to promote green design.
