What it does
How many times have you wasted shampoo trying to get it out of the bottle or struggled with solid products that are hard to use?Kapure is a sustainable, smart single-dose capsule shampoo that eliminates waste. So, how many bottles do you throw away each month?
Your inspiration
It all started in the shower while I was looking for a project for my thesis: I was using conditioner and too much came out. Unable to put it back into the bottle, I thought of creating simple, practical, perfectly dosed packaging. Something easy to carry while traveling, eco-friendly and innovative, suitable for every hair type and designed to improve the daily care routine. From this idea, KAPURE was born: concentrated shampoo and conditioner in single-dose capsules, sustainable and smart, combining practicality with respect for the environment, offering a new experience in hair care. From here, research began for a true revolution...
How it works
Kapure uses single-dose capsules containing concentrated shampoo and conditioner made of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol), which dissolve easily upon contact with water. Each capsule contains 20 ml of shampoo and 20 ml of conditioner, releasing the perfect amount of product when mixed with water, preventing waste and making usage easy. The packaging itself is made from a micro-fiber material that dissolves on contact with water, eliminating unnecessary waste. The concentrated formula ensures effectiveness with fewer ingredients and packaging, reducing environmental impact. Kapure thus combines practicality, sustainability, and optimal care for the scalp and hair.
Design process
Kapure began with a daily-life insight, born in the shower as part of a university thesis project. From there, I started exploring solutions to make hair product packaging more practical, sustainable, and smart. I have not yet developed the liquid formula, but I focused my work on the design and creative phase, testing and drawing multiple packaging proposals. Some were complex, others too expensive or unsustainable. After several attempts, research, and comparisons, I realized that simplicity was key: the most effective solution turned out to be the simplest and cleanest. The product is a single-dose capsule made of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) that dissolves on contact with water, designed to contain the ideal amount of product, easy to carry, perfect for travel, and above all zero waste. The innovation lies in the container, made from "Kaizen" paper created with ultra-short cellulose fibers, capable of dispersing quickly in both hot and cold water. Kapure is the result of a process of observation, experimentation, and conscious choice, with the goal of rethinking haircare routines in a smart and sustainable way.
How it is different
Kapure stands out for its single-dose capsule format, an innovative solution that eliminates waste and makes application simpler and more hygienic. Unlike traditional bottles or solid products, Kapure delivers the perfect amount of shampoo or conditioner, avoiding overdosing and messy use. The capsules are wrapped in a water-soluble PVA film and packaged in a microfiber-based paper that completely dissolves on contact with water, making the packaging entirely zero waste. It’s not just a new form, it’s a new approach to hair care: easy to carry anywhere, suitable for any hair length, sustainable, and designed to reduce daily environmental impact. Kapure blends functionality, aesthetics, and ecological responsibility into a truly unique product.
Future plans
The next step for Kapure is the development of the concentrated liquid formula, gentle on the scalp and suitable for all hair types. At the same time, I will work on refining the packaging and seeking partners for sustainable large-scale production. KAPURE is a university thesis project that has the potential to become a real, accessible, and desirable alternative—helping reduce waste in personal care and promoting a more conscious and smart approach to everyday beauty.
