What it does
UroView solves thumb fatigue and unclear navigation in traditional endoscopes via ergonomic handle and AI-display.
Your inspiration
After observing urologists' finger strain following 3-hour surgeries, we redesigned the ergonomic handle. Incorporating feedback from operating room nurses on misoperation rates, we developed an intelligent screen display system.
How it works
1.By reallocating button types and layouts based on handle functionality and ergonomic design, we've significantly alleviated the core issue of medical staff's finger fatigue. 2.The top-mounted micro-intelligent screen integrates advanced AI, combining with an all-in-one display system to enable smart information integration and multimodal interaction. This innovation not only delivers a convenient and intelligent experience but also provides a more efficient, precise surgical solution, boosting operational efficiency and healthcare quality. 3.The handle's overall form is derived from rigorous human-machine experiments, enhanced with refined aesthetic improvements. Balancing scientific rigor with visual appeal, the design adheres to principles of sophistication, minimalism, and professionalism, aligning seamlessly with the medical operating environment.
Design process
Our design journey began with comprehensive clinical research, identifying key pain points in traditional endoscope handles regarding ergonomics and surgical efficiency. We initiated human-factor studies, progressing from foam prototypes to 3D-printed models based on surgeons' natural grip curves, pressure points, and optimal angles. Through iterative testing with medical professionals, we refined the handle's form and button layout. Simultaneously, we developed the smart display system by analyzing surgeons' visual cognition patterns in OR environments, designing and optimizing information hierarchy and layout for rapid clinical decision-making. This dual-track process of mechanical ergonomics refinement and intelligent interface development resulted in our final integrated solution.
How it is different
1. A comprehensive redesign of button types and layout, grounded in handle function and ergonomic principles, successfully eliminates the long-standing problem of finger fatigue among medical staff during prolonged use. 2. A top-mounted micro-intelligent display, paired with an all-in-one intelligent auxiliary system, unites advanced sensing, processing and connectivity to deliver seamless information fusion and multimodal interaction; this yields a more intuitive, efficient and precise surgical workflow, cutting procedure time and elevating clinical quality. 3. The handle’s overall form was iteratively refined through rigorous human-machine experiments, evolving proven endoscope grip geometry into a profile that is both anatomically neutral and visually refined. The design language adopts a high-end, minimalist, professional aesthetic that harmonizes with the sterile surgical environment while preserving scientific rationality.
Future plans
We aim to expand UroVision’s AI capabilities for real-time pathology detection and integrate 5G for remote surgery. Next steps include clinical trials and partnerships with medical institutions.
