What it does
Tikkli guides your focus through soft haptic cues, helping you stay present and fully in control. Made for anyone struggling to maintain focus or losing track of time, it combines powerful focus and productivity tools to help you master your daily routines.
Your inspiration
Tikkli was inspired by one cofounder’s experience living with ADHD and struggling to manage time effectively. While living alone as a university student, he often found himself late despite giving plenty of prep time. To cope, he developed a habit of repeatedly snoozing his alarm every 10 minutes after waking up, which gently nudged him out of dissociation and helped him stay aware of time passing. This simple but effective technique became the foundation for Tikkli—offering subtle reminders and easy-to-use tools to support focus, time awareness, and productivity throughout daily routines, helping users regain control and build better habits.
How it works
Tikli is a minimal wristwatch designed to help you feel the passage of time. It features a compact screen and a simple, elegant interface—no apps, no internet—just the essential tools you need, free from distractions. Gentle haptic pulses, with adjustable intervals, guide your focus and increase your awareness of time without overwhelming you. Built-in tools like a visual timer (to help you visualize the passage of time) and a Pomodoro timer, with more to come, support structured routines and deep work. Powered by an ultra low-energy chip, Tikli’s main processor enters sleep mode when idle to conserve battery. With a battery life lasting over a month, it frees you from constant charging so you can stay focused without interruption. Thoughtfully designed and distraction-free, Tikli quietly supports anyone looking to regain control of their time and build healthier, more mindful habits—helping you stay grounded every day.
And yes, it can tell you the time.
Design process
Our design process began by considering what type of wearable would best deliver gentle haptic cues and fit naturally into daily life. After exploring options, we settled on a wristwatch for its accessibility, ease of use, and comfort. Next, we imagined a minimalist, comfortable shape with a clear, distraction-free screen that feels natural to wear all day and supports daily routines.
We then selected essential features like a visual timer and Pomodoro timer to help users focus and manage time effectively.
At the same time, we researched hardware components with strict constraints: ultra-low power consumption, compact size, and reliable haptics. This guided our choice of processor, screen, battery, and vibration motor.
We created initial CAD designs for the mechanical casing and circuit board, emphasizing simplicity, durability, and elegance. Multiple iterations refined the form factor to balance size, comfort, and aesthetics without sacrificing functionality.
Alongside hardware development, we optimized firmware to maximize battery life and deliver smooth, customizable haptic feedback.
Many steps remain ongoing as we continue refining Tikli’s design, screen, and features to enhance user experience and meet the evolving needs of our community.
How it is different
Tikli is the only device of its kind—designed to help you feel time through gentle, customizable haptic cues. Unlike phones or smartwatches, it's a dedicated hardware with no apps, notifications, or distractions. Using your phone for time management often backfires, triggering habits that pull you off track. Tikli breaks that cycle by being calm, minimalist, and purpose-built for focus. Inspired by real neurodivergent strategies, it supports routines and time awareness without noise. With ultra-long battery life (over a month per charge), it’s always ready to help—no constant recharging required. Tikli is also affordable, designed as a practical, everyday aid for anyone who needs help managing time. And it’s proudly open source, inviting the community to contribute, customize, and join our mission to make focus more accessible. There’s no other product like it—just a quiet, intentional companion to help you stay grounded, focused, and in control of your day.
Future plans
Our next steps focus on refining Tikli’s design to be smaller and more ergonomic for all-day comfort, while further extending its exceptional battery life. Leveraging powerful hardware, we plan to add versatile new features, evolving Tikli into a comprehensive Swiss army knife for time management and productivity. We are also committed to supporting scientific research to validate the benefits of periodic haptic stimulation and its positive impact on focus and well-being. Upon validation, we aim to partner with educational institutions to make Tikli an accessible, essential tool for children and individuals needing focused support the most.
