What it does
ROOMLINK is a low-altitude aircraft designed for young urban workers, breaking the time and space boundaries between commuting and returning home. Through high-speed and silent flight, users can turn on the "flash home" mode at any time
Your inspiration
According to the data of the "2025 China Urban Long-term Rental Market Development Blue Book", the total number of people renting housing in China's four first-tier cities has exceeded 40 million, accounting for nearly 50% of the permanent population. Among them, the proportion of young white-collar workers aged 25-34 is as high as 65%, constituting the main group of renters. The continuous deepening of the trend of housing rental is reshaping the living form and lifestyle of urban youth. Due to the high housing prices, which are not proportional to income (in the first half of 2024
How it works
The flying vehicle "ROOMLINK" uses a fluid propulsion system (Fluidic Propulsion Systems) that is similar to Dyson's "Air Multiplier". It replaces the traditional rotating blades. Due to its special power and lift structure, the noise during flight can be as low as 30dB or less, which is more suitable for travel in densely populated areas. At the same time, this propulsion system has a safer power structure than the rotor engine, reducing the safety hazards it poses to pedestrians. When taking off, its engine nozzle will rotate downward to lift the aircraft from the ground. After the aircraft rises to a certain height, the engine nozzle rotates backward to provide the aircraft with power to fly forward, thereby achieving flight.
Design process
1. User survey The design of the "ROOMLINK" series of transportation tools surveyed specific young urban populations and produced user portraits. Limited by the ability to own housing, young people in first-tier cities have long been in a tidal flow of "renting at work-returning home during holidays". Geographical distance and traffic obstructions (such as the difficulty of grabbing tickets during the Spring Festival and highway congestion) make the journey home time-consuming and labor-intensive, and hometown gradually becomes an "outside hometown" in an emotional sense. When the high-pressure workplace environment continues to erode the boundaries of life, and both physical and psychological paths to return home are blocked, the construction of a spiritual home falls into a systematic dilemma-the body lives on the edge of the city, but the soul has no place to go. 2. Pain points and demand extraction Users urgently require a significant improvement in the efficiency and certainty of commuting home during holidays, and need a solution that can effectively overcome existing traffic bottlenecks (such as tight ticketing and road congestion), greatly reduce the time and energy cost of the journey home, and ensure the continuity of emotional connection.
How it is different
Compared with traditional eVTOL vehicles, ROOMLINK is quieter and safer. Its special lift structure enables it to fly at higher speeds, giving it both vertical take-off and landing capabilities and high-speed flight capabilities.
Future plans
The next step is to optimize the relationship between the exterior parts to make it more beautiful and enhance its aerodynamic performance. We hope to be able to verify the functional prototype.
