Your inspiration
As time conditions become more ample, more and more people are beginning to choose outdoor sports. Outdoor sports often come with certain dangers that one might not encounter in the city. Along with the high-load sports outdoors, these dangers can pose a threat to the skeletal system, and in severe cases, may even lead to leg fractures. At that time, current outdoor athletes find it difficult to carry a skeletal splint, and its use is relatively complex. Therefore, there is a need for a splint that is easy to carry and simple to use.
How it works
Designed for quick emergency splinting of outdoor sports injuries, this splint can be quickly used and secured in case of skeletal injuries for adventurers, ensuring that the injury site is protected from secondary harm. Additionally, its folding structure allows the splint to be adjusted flexibly according to the position and size of the injury, providing portable and efficient protection for outdoor adventurers in case of fractures. The main body of the emergency splint is made of a hard yet flexible material, which can closely fit the human body’s structure, while the sponge filling ensures that the contact surface provides cushioning protection, thus offering better injury site protection from a human factors perspective. From a structural standpoint, the product simplifies the installation structure of the telescopic splint, making it easy to maintain and allowing for multiple reuses, making it particularly suitable for complex environments.
Design process
First, through research, we realized the current gap in the market for this product's positioning. Then, we brainstormed on the implementation methods, considering options like inflatable and foldable designs, and ultimately decided to use a telescoping foldable structure. Next, we combined the design needs of quick usability, lightweight portability, and ease of use to conceptualize the design details, such as how to achieve the telescoping foldable structure and how to reduce weight. Finally, we proceeded to design and model the product.
How it is different
Compared to existing products on the market, this product is designed to be faster and simpler to use, and it is also more convenient for the target audience to carry. Existing products are merely a rigid elongated object combined with fixed ropes, while this product reduces the inconvenience of existing products with a telescopic structure, making it more flexible to use.
Future plans
In the following steps, we will further refine the structure, using standardized component design to enable mass production of the product, and optimize the telescopic and folding structure.
