Personal Multi AI Agent for Mental Health

An AI-powered mental health assistant with multi AI agents offering emotional support, personalized action plans and a safe space to reflect and heal.

What it does

This AI-powered mental health assistant addresses the lack of accessible emotional support by offering a safe and private space for users to receive personalized coping strategies, reflect and manage stress through empathetic multi-agent interaction.

Your inspiration

I’ve always been passionate about both AI and mental health- two fields that are rapidly growing and deeply impactful. The idea came from noticing how many people silently struggle with stress or anxiety but lack accessible support. I wanted to create something that could offer comfort, guidance and a safe space- anytime, anywhere. By merging my interests in AI and emotional wellbeing, I built a solution that not only listens but also empowers users to take steps toward healing. This project is my way of using technology to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

How it works

This web app is built using Python and Streamlit to create a simple and interactive user interface. It uses a multi-agent AI system, where each agent has a specific role in supporting mental wellbeing. When a user shares how they feel, the Assessment Agent reads the input and identifies emotional needs. The Action Agent then suggests practical strategies like breathing exercises or journaling. The Follow-up Agent gives longer-term tips, such as building routines or tracking mood. If a user simply wants to vent, the Comforting Agent listens and replies with empathetic messages. Behind the scenes, basic logic and keyword analysis help match responses to the user’s situation. Sessions can be downloaded, and tools like music and calming scripts are integrated for relief. The system is private, easy to use and offers support anytime- no account or diagnosis needed.

Design process

The idea began with the need for a friendly and judgment-free mental health companion that people could access anytime. I started by identifying four common support needs: emotional expression, immediate coping strategies, long-term guidance and empathetic listening. This led to the concept of a multi-agent AI system- each agent designed to fulfill a specific function: Assessment, Action, Follow-up and Comforting. The initial prototype was built in Streamlit with static responses. After user feedback, I improved the logic to personalize the recommendations. I refined the UI to support both light and dark modes, added breathing exercise scripts and integrated a song that is known to reduces stress scientifically. To make it more useful, I also included session download features in both TXT and PDF format. Each iteration focused on improving emotional sensitivity and simplicity. The current version offers an interactive and responsive experience- designed to support users with empathy, structure and privacy. I also ensured that the system works seamlessly across devices and remains lightweight for quick access. Future updates aim to improve the follow up conversations, include multilingual support and optional AI voice responses for an even more comforting experience.

How it is different

What makes this project unique is its multi-agent AI design, where each agent is focused on a distinct mental health function: Assessment, Action, Follow-up and Comforting - all working together to provide a structured yet empathetic experience. Unlike many wellness apps that focus solely on meditation, journaling or chatbots, this tool combines emotional analysis, personalized guidance and a venting space all in one lightweight, browser-based platform. It does not require user accounts, ensures privacy and offers support anytime without long sign-up flows or paid subscriptions. The inclusion of session downloads, guided breathing scripts and scientifically backed stress-relief music adds practical value, making it more than just a chatbot. It's designed to feel personal, supportive and accessible - even for users who are unsure where to begin. A comforting and personal space where users feel heard, supported and free to express themselves without judgment

Future plans

In the future, I plan to enhance the Follow-up Agent to enable more natural and continuous conversations for better long-term support. I also aim to integrate multilingual chatbot capabilities so users from different regions can access help in their preferred language. Additionally, I want to include AI-generated audio responses to make interactions more comforting and human-like. My goal is to expand the platform’s accessibility and emotional intelligence, ultimately evolving it into a trusted, always-available mental health companion.

Awards

This project is newly developed and it has been submitted to a few hackathons. It has received positive initial responses and I passed the early evaluation rounds of all of them. I'm currently awaiting the next rounds of those competitions. I plan to continue refining the project based on feedback and opportunities ahead.
