What it does

Oda Luna is an adjustable, modular bra that adapts to changing bodies and asymmetry. It solves the problem of poor fitting bras by offering flexible sizing and replaceable parts, improving comfort, reducing waste, and extending the product’s lifespan.

Your inspiration

My inspiration for Oda Luna comes from a desire to create sustainable lingerie that grows with the body. Observing common struggles with poorly fitting bras, especially during hormonal changes, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations, inspired me to develop this idea. I also wanted to address the often overlooked issue of asymmetrical breasts. By combining a modular and adjustable design, I aim to improve both comfort and durability while reducing textile waste. Oda Luna responds to this need for inclusive, long-lasting lingerie.

How it works

Oda Luna is a modular bra consisting of five adjustable parts: two cups, one band, and two shoulder straps. Each cup can be adjusted separately to accommodate asymmetrical breasts, while the band adjusts to ensure comfort as the body changes due to hormonal shifts or weight fluctuations. The bra features a cache-coeur system with front closure, making it easy to put on and especially accessible for users with limited shoulder mobility. The modular components can be easily detached and replaced if worn or damaged, extending the bra’s lifespan and reducing waste. Adjustments are made through sliders and hooks designed for effortless fine-tuning. This system also allows users to mix and match parts with different styles, providing both personalization and versatility. Oda Luna combines adaptability, comfort, and sustainability in one innovative design.

Design process

This project started with surveys and in-depth interviews to explore common issues with bras. More than a third of the respondents reported that over half of their bras didn’t fit well, confirming the need for a better solution. I also investigated current bra designs and textile techniques to have a better understanding of adjustability, comfort, and durability. I then began with system design and quickly started to make quick and dirty prototypes to test the core concepts. Learning from each prototype, all versions were tested and reviewed with users, providing valuable feedback for improvements. This iterative process helped refine the fit and functionality early on. Following this, I created more detailed prototypes that were tested over longer periods by users. Their input led to continuous optimization, resulting in a final design that holds up to nine traditional bra sizes in one. User verification was central throughout the whole process, ensuring that the bra adapts well to diverse body shapes. Now, a focus on material selection and style development must prepare the design for production and wider use.

How it is different

Oda Luna stands out by combining three rarely united qualities in lingerie: adaptability, modularity, and long-term use. Unlike traditional bras, which come in fixed sizes and styles, Oda Luna adjusts to changing bodies through independently adjustable cups and band, allowing one bra to cover up to nine traditional sizes. Its modular structure enables users to easily replace worn parts or mix and match different styles, extending the product’s lifespan and offering room for personal expression. The cache-coeur system with front closure also adds accessibility, especially for users with limited mobility. By focusing on flexibility, repairability, and inclusivity, Oda Luna offers a fresh perspective on a product that is often overlooked - rethinking the bra in a way that truly centers the user’s needs.

Future plans

In the future, I aim to further develop Oda Luna by refining both its material choices and visual styling to ensure it meets aesthetic and functional expectations of a broader public. A key next step is to fine a partner with expertise in the lingerie industry, someone who understands production, fit, and market dynamics, to help bring this design to life commercially. An external partner could also support mapping the product’s full lifecycle and help close the loop, ensuring a circular, sustainable approach from production to end-of-life.
