What it does

Early digital exposure makes childhood attention scarce. NeuroX trains focus via serious games & art therapy, using EEG to activate ferrofluid motion. Shares progress in community networks, uniting parents/schools/hospitals to support their development.

Your inspiration

Education goes beyond knowledge—it's also about nurturing habits often overlooked. In the era of fragmented digital information, helping children value focus matters. Modern solutions like art therapy and serious games use EEG toys to harness kids' natural curiosity, guiding them toward self-control through engaging play. Ferrofluid safely forms dynamic shapes via electromagnets. My sister saw it as a living creature, inspiring me to enhance human-material interaction for children's emotional growth.

How it works

We developed the circuit prototype for the device, and the patent application has been officially accepted.. The headband integrates a commercial TGAM module, which non-invasively captures EEG signals via forehead and earlobe contact, then transmits digitized data via Bluetooth. The "N-blocks" ferrofluid interface receives these signals, activating electromagnets at varying intensities and positions to induce controlled deformation of the oil-based ferrofluid suspension. The toy employs eco-friendly materials with secure sealing to ensure safety.

Design process

Through interviews with Beijing Special Education Schools, we identified that families of children with attention deficits face dual pressures: the financial burden of costly private rehabilitation and education services and the psychological barriers or social stigma experienced by their children. Grounded in art therapy principles, we developed an affordable and inclusive biofeedback interactive toy system. This solution promotes concentration through immersive physical creation, alleviates anxiety, facilitates emotional reconciliation, and enhances self-confidence and achievement through tangible artistic expression. To strengthen social connections within this special-needs community, we established an online platform for sharing training progress and experiences. In the final trial, 8 children used our prototype consistently for two weeks, demonstrating measurable engagement and improvement, while special education professionals provided evaluative feedback for further optimization.

How it is different

NeuroX is a home-use EEG biofeedback toy system for focus training. It employs a commercial TGAM module to capture brainwave signals, which control the dynamic movements of ferrofluid to enable "focus-driven interaction." Leveraging unconscious focus during play and exploration, the system promotes prefrontal cortex development. Distinct from GUI-based systems, it integrates physiological signals with physical materials based on serious game and art therapy theories. By merging educational psychology with artistic technology, NeuroX creates a unique experience that fosters sustainable attention development.

Future plans

This project plans to obtain additional professional endorsements from psychiatrists, educational psychologists, and art therapists. We also intend to conduct extended trials with children aged 4-10 to further validate the product's efficacy. On the technical front, we will implement more advanced surface treatment techniques to enhance user experience. From a commercial perspective, we are preparing cost analyses for mass production and retail pricing evaluation.
