Your inspiration
For a long time, in northwest, north and western China, sandstorms and soil erosion have been very serious, with a shortage of wood, fuel, fertilizer and fodder, and low and unstable agricultural production. From the perspective of afforestation methods, China's afforestation methods are still relatively backward, mainly carried out manually, with high cost and low efficiency. In some areas, the environment is harsh, the workload is large, and the work is very arduous. In 1978, the construction project of the Three-North Shelterbelt System was officially launched, creating a precedent for large-scale ecological construction in China.
How it works
The daily workload of forest rangers is large, including tree planting, patrolling, monitoring, etc., and the working environment is also relatively difficult. The forest ranger integrates Beidou positioning technology, unmanned driving technology and artificial intelligence technology, which can realize 24-hour all-weather operation, reduce planting costs, and greatly improve planting efficiency and survival rate. The mother vehicle patrols and loads the sub-vehicle to arrive at the operation area, plans the scale and path of tree planting, and the sub-vehicle goes to the designated place through unmanned driving, and begins to plant trees (digging pits, fertilizing, putting saplings, compacting soil, irrigation), and at the same time, the mother vehicle can transport materials, collect land samples, and monitor the planting situation.
Design process
The design starts with an upfront sketch. The early scheme was too cumbersome, and later it was changed to a streamlined mother car (with desert-specific tires) and a recessed subcar. The color is mainly green, and reflective strips are added for night work. The shape is adjusted by computer modeling, the corners of the mother car are rounded to reduce sand accumulation, and the child car is changed to a cylindrical shape, which is convenient for planting work and plant storage. Four hypothetical scenarios (sunny day, strong wind, dark night, and sandstorm) were made to verify the design.
How it is different
The intelligent tree planting vehicle integrates Beidou positioning technology, unmanned driving technology and artificial intelligence technology, which can realize functions such as automatic drilling, seedling picking, planting, soil covering and irrigation, intelligent identification of obstacles, automatic route design, autonomous navigation and remote control, and supports 5G communication. It can be widely used in large-scale afforestation in plains, deserts, Gobi, deserts and other areas, greatly improving planting efficiency and survival rate.
Future plans
Land and stony desertification and secondary salinization in Northwest China caused by the degradation of cultivated land, grassland and woodland due to climate variability and excessive human economic activities. The daily workload of forest rangers is large, including tree planting, patrolling, monitoring, etc., and the working environment is also relatively difficult. It is hoped that in the future, the design work can be produced to help the rangers.
