Möbius Smart Bladeless Fan

Mobius bladeless fan is a smart home product that solves the blowing direction and wind force of the fan through the torsion shape of the Mobius ring and Internet of Things technology.

Inspired by the Mobius, ring, this design applies its shape to the bladeless fan, uses the twisted shape of the Mobius ring to set the air outlet, and realizes simultaneous air outlet in 360 degrees in different directions, replacing the existing limited fan. Great shake head function. This product is not only suitable for multiple occasions, but also suitable for personal or family daily use. The product can be connected to the human body presence sensor through WIFI or Bluetooth, accurately identify the position of the human body and intelligently control the fan, realizing the interconnection of everything.


How it works

Based on the lift principle of aircraft wings, the work designs an air outlet structure similar to aircraft flaps and slats, and controls the wind force by adjusting its bending angle. And with the help of the Internet of Things technology, it is connected with the human body presence sensor through Bluetooth to accurately identify the position of the human body. The millimeter-wave radar is used to accurately identify the position of the human body and automatically control the air outlet to realize a smart home solution. and automatically control the opening and closing of the air outlet in a specific direction.


Design process

The Mobius ring is a geometric figure full of beauty and mystery. It has very important topological properties and is an important part of modern mathematics. At the same time, it is a concept with wide application and philosophical significance, showing a seemingly limited space, which actually has infinite possibilities. This work designs the fan shape of the Mobius ring and makes full use of its characteristics. It is the application innovation and promotion of the geometric figure of the Mobius ring. The fuselage material is ABS engineering plastics. It is characterized by anti-fall and wear resistance. The overall high-temperature injection molding is required in the manufacturing process. Flow will occur during the injection molding process, and a natural texture will be formed after cooling. The main body of the plastic ABS is a blend or terpolymer of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene, which is a tough and rigid thermoplastic. Styrene makes ABS have good moldability, gloss and rigidity: acrylonitrile makes ABS have good heat resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and surface hardness; butadiene makes ABS have good impact strength and low temperature resilience. The proportion of the three components is different, and its performance will also change accordingly.

Future plans

Within 18 months we’ll finalise the Beta-3 Möbius fan—quieter impeller, radar targeting, clip-on battery—complete 1 000 h durability/IP54 tests, lock for CE/FCC, and file PCT patents on the 360° duct and smart-airflow control. Meanwhile we’ll quote a 2-cavity ABS mould, crowdfund 200 pilot units to verify price/UX, and secure a contract manufacturer to scale to 10 k units (BOM ≤ $85). By 2027 we aim for 100 k units (30 % recycled ABS) via outdoor retail and e-commerce, license the module to OEMs, cut energy use 30 %, and donate one fan for every 50 sold.
