What it does
This is a non powered mechanical linkage bathroom floor drain, designed as an intelligent anti blocking upgrade solution to address the pain points of traditional floor drains such as hair blockage, odor reflux, and complicated maintenance.
Your inspiration
Girls may get hair stuck in the floor drain after taking a shower and need to manually remove it. They have some resistance and want to design a fully automatic floor drain.
How it works
This floor drain does not require electricity and can be operated by pressing the panel: when pressed, the internal spring compresses and stores energy, and the cross blade rotates at high speed (300-500 revolutions per minute) through the gear set to accelerate. The conical filter concentrates the hair in the sealed cutting chamber and shreds it into small pieces of 2-3 millimeters. After releasing it, the spring resets and the water flow automatically flushes away the debris. The double-layer silicone sealing ring completely seals the cavity when pressed, preventing debris from splashing and isolating sewer odors. It is non removable and suitable for high hair scenes such as home bathrooms and hotels, and can solve problems such as blockage, cleaning, and odor return with just one click.
Design process
The initial design was to incorporate an electrochemical biofilm, hoping to load it onto the wall of the sewer pipe to decompose blocked hair, but this did not solve the problem of hair blocking the floor drain. So I added a one click collection and cutting function.
How it is different
Mechanical self-drive without electricity: Press-triggered spring-gear mechanism replaces electric designs, ideal for humid bathrooms. Sealed cutting chamber: Stainless blade in silicone-sealed cavity chops hair into 2-3mm pieces, preventing splashes (95% efficiency), unlike open filters. Conical funnel design: Guides hair to cutting zone, reducing tangling (5% rate), no manual cleaning needed. Durable protection: 316 stainless steel + dual silicone seals (IP67) block odor/leaks, lasting 10+ years, outperforming plastic drains.
Future plans
Develop modular/smart versions (IoT clog alerts), use lightweight/titanium materials & self-cleaning coatings. Expand to SEA markets, partner hotels for customization. Adopt biodegradable parts, design recyclable modules. Apply international patents, seek certifications for commercial projects.
