Flood Blocking Rescue Belt

The rescue belt solves the problem of intercepting floods when they come.

What it does

The flood control barrier adopts the appearance of a conventional speed bump, with built-in airbags and sensors. There are water inlets and drainage outlets on the left and right sides respectively.

Your inspiration

Disaster impact: Flood disasters are one of the most common natural disasters worldwide. It causes a large number of casualties and economic losses every year. The trend incidence rate in the past decade accounted for approximately 40% of global natural disasters (data from 1990 to 2023). Assuming an average annual economic loss of over 40 billion US dollars (World Bank, 2020 data).

How it works

Operating principle: Intelligent sensing + active defense + rescue integration. Daily status: The appearance simulates road speed bumps (Step 1), is concealed and installed in flood-prone sections (such as low-lying roads, tunnel entrances), does not occupy additional space, and has the function of traffic deceleration. Trigger mechanism: Flood enters the interior of the device through the water inlet, triggering the sensing device (to detect water level and pressure threshold) and initiating the emergency procedure (Step 2). Defensive action: The aluminum tape spreads rapidly: It blocks the path of water flow spread and forms a physical water-blocking barrier. Airbag deployment and inflation: The built-in airbag rapidly expands (Step 3→Step 4), enhancing the water-blocking height and stability. The traction rope on the surface of the airbag can be used for self-rescue by people in floods.

Design process

Manufacturing key: Collaborative design of materials and structure. Shell material: Use wear-resistant and waterproof rubber/polymer composite materials to simulate the pressure resistance and impact resistance of speed bumps, ensuring durability under daily traffic pressure. Airbag system: Material: High-strength, tear-resistant waterproof fabric (such as nylon coated with PVC), ensuring no damage after inflation; Inflation method: Built-in chemical gas-producing agent or electric air pump (rapid gas production in emergency situations, with expansion completed within a few seconds). Sensing and Control: Sensors: Waterproof water level sensor + pressure sensor, accurately identifying "continuous flood" (avoiding accidental triggering due to brief water accumulation during rainy days); Circuit: Fully sealed waterproof design, suitable for outdoor humid environments. Structural design: Foldable storage structure (similar to the folding of an accordion) ensures flatness in daily use. Once triggered, it quickly unfolds into a continuous water-blocking wall. Snap fasteners and emergency float plates enhance structural stability.

How it is different

In terms of daily functions, this design can disguise speed bumps and serve traffic management purposes, while traditional sandbags have no daily uses and require additional storage space. 2. In terms of response speed, this product can be intelligently and automatically triggered, while traditional sandbags require manual handling or installation, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. 3. In terms of functional integration, this product combines water-blocking and self-rescue traction ropes for personnel, while traditional sandbags have no rescue function. 4. In terms of flexibility, this product can be installed on any road, deployed as needed, and fixed in position, while traditional sandbags need to be moved in advance.

Future plans

Future applications: From "single-point defense" to "intelligent network" \ nScenario expansion: Urban core areas: tunnel entrances, underground garages, and community entrances, replacing traditional flood control sandbags; Towns and rural areas: Flood-prone sections and riverbanks, serving as daily deceleration and emergency barriers; Special areas: Industrial parks, temporary construction sites, protection of equipment and materials. Technological upgrade: Internet of Things Linkage: Sensors are connected to the urban flood control system to monitor water levels in real time, issue remote warnings, and even link drainage facilities.
