What it does
This is a portable close-range electronic visual aid device that helps people with low vision perform close-range tasks such as reading and writing.
Your inspiration
Among my relatives, there is a adolescent patient with macular degeneration. I hope to help him complete his studies and work normally through design.
How it works
In my work, the visual aid, the screen adopts multiple color filters and display modes, and is surrounded by auxiliary sensors to achieve intelligent supplementary lighting. The foldable structure makes it convenient to carry. The wirelessly connected handle that can be used by both hands is convenient for users to adjust. The physical buttons and scroll wheel are easy for people with low vision to use.
Design process
I hope to help the users of visual AIDS carry or use the devices more conveniently. I determined the general shape and usage functions of the product through hand-drawn drafts. After communicating with colleagues and teachers, I made improvements. Finally, I modeled it through Rhino software and rendered it with Keyshot to obtain the illustration.
How it is different
I added a wireless handle, enabling users to conveniently achieve functions such as focusing and mode changing of the product with one hand while writing with the other. In addition, the intelligent supplementary lighting module and the magnetic detachable camera module can better assist people with low vision.
Future plans
I will optimize the folding support structure in the future to make the product thin, light and easy to carry. In the future, it is hoped that the product can be widely applied in schools, offices and other places to help people with low vision complete tasks normally and efficiently.
