What it does
EDM is a compact vehicle that merges mobility with music. It enables users to ride, perform, and interact freely with built-in DJ gear, liftable platform, and immersive lighting—redefining urban entertainment.
Your inspiration
In today’s fast-paced cities, music and outdoor activities are key outlets for stress relief—especially for Gen Z, who see music as a lifestyle and form of self-expression. However, current equipment is often bulky and restrictive, limiting spontaneous use. Traditional vehicles offer no entertainment integration, creating a disconnect between music and daily life.
How it works
This electric scooter powers both commuting and onboard entertainment systems, including music, lighting, and interactivity. A magnetic tablet serves as a dashboard while riding and transforms into a controller when parked, also operating the lift system that raises the seat platform into a DJ tabletop. The sliding seat provides extra space for performance. Modular music gear connects via Bluetooth, combining DJ functions with intuitive touch controls for real-time mixing. Sound plays through subwoofers embedded in the wheel rims, turning the vehicle into a mobile music experience.
Design process
The project began with research into mobile music setups, such as cargo bikes equipped with DJ gear. While functional, these were often heavy, hard to ride, and lacked a truly relaxed experience.Initially, we explored fitting standard DJ equipment into the vehicle, using rotating or sliding seats to create a work surface. But this made the design bulky and less user-friendly.To simplify use and enhance atmosphere, we shifted to integrating modular music features into the vehicle itself, combining sound, light, and interaction in one cohesive form. The styling was intentionally lightweight and playful—designed for everyday use, not just performance.A liftable seat platform was added to easily switch between riding and entertainment modes.
How it is different
Most electric scooters focus on commuting and practicality, while audio and DJ systems remain static, requiring fixed setups and lacking mobility. Portable speakers offer limited interactivity and creative function. EDM breaks these boundaries with an all-in-one design that combines transport, audio-visual interaction, and live performance. It proposes a new lifestyle for urban creativity and redefines the connection between people, music, and space.
Future plans
This project covers concept development to real-world application, focusing on structural and equipment safety testing. Key tasks include frame strength evaluation, powertrain integration, and battery system optimization—especially for live performance energy needs. Business-wise, the project seeks collaboration with DJs, music platforms, and scooter brands to promote street pop-up shows and boost market value.
