The project is about a product that synchronizes human and natural biorhythms.

What it does

ECO SYNC is a sensory device that aligns human and natural biorhythms. It uses moss, a transparent display, and a humidifier to reflect time and environment, helping users restore balance disrupted by social jet lag.


Your inspiration

Modern life is increasingly disconnected from nature, leading to biorhythm imbalances and emotional fatigue—especially due to social jet lag disrupting sleep and activity cycles. ECO SYNC began with the idea of addressing this not just functionally, but by emotionally reconnecting people with nature. By harmonizing elements like humidity, light, and moss, the product creates a shared rhythm between people and their environment—what ECO SYNC calls “synchronization.” This helps users intuitively sense nature’s flow and restore balance in daily life.


How it works

ECO SYNC is an emotional environmental device that supports users’ biorhythms through time-based visuals and environmental changes. Its transparent OLED display shows dynamic content that gradually brightens like dawn in the morning, shifts to daylight scenes during the day, and fades into a calming aurora at night. These transitions mirror natural light and help regulate the circadian rhythm. An ultrasonic humidifier automatically adjusts indoor humidity to ensure both user comfort and moss health. The moss acts as a living sensor, subtly changing in response to light and moisture to help users intuitively perceive shifts in their environment and rhythm. By combining light, air, and nature, ECO SYNC passively synchronizes the rhythm of the space with the user’s daily flow and promotes natural balance without any active control.


Design process

ECO SYNC started with the idea of solving the problem of imbalance of biorhythm in modern people through natural sensory elements. In the early days, while studying related theories such as the biological clock, social parallax, and melatonin secretion, we studied how to detect and adjust biorhythm through light, humidity, and natural living things. Later, in the conceptual derivation stage, we conceived a product structure that integrates moss, light, transparent display, and humidification functions with the keyword "emotional synchronization with nature" and decided on a symbolic design in the form of a "home" that naturally melts into the user environment. Using Rhino and KeyShot, the product's appearance, internal structure, and display content scenarios were implemented in 3D, and the screen transition and lighting flow were simulated according to the environmental changes over time. In addition, internal design assuming actual operation, such as moss placement, humidity sensor position, and airflow structure, was also performed.


How it is different

ECO SYNC offers a new approach to rhythm restoration, distinct from conventional biorhythm products that rely on alarms or app-based controls. Centered around living moss, it shares rhythm with users through sensory and intuitive interaction. Natural landscape content displayed on a transparent OLED screen changes with time, creating the feeling of looking out a window. Combined with automatic humidity control and the subtle reactions of moss, users can feel the flow of nature without any active control. Unlike decorative elements, the moss acts as a living sensor, offering an interactive experience where nature and technology coexist. By blending emotional and functional design, ECO SYNC transforms biorhythm regulation into a sensory experience and redefines how people connect with their environment.


Future plans

ECO SYNC is currently at the conceptual stage, with its realization depending on advancements in transparent displays, compact humidifiers, and moss maintenance technology. Technical limitations in TOLED resolution, brightness, and transmittance make implementation challenging at this time. Despite these constraints, ECO SYNC proposes a new direction in emotionally driven environmental design. As display technology evolves, its feasibility is expected to grow. With its unique integration of nature, technology, and sensory experience, ECO SYNC holds potential for future wellness-focused applications.
