What it does
Cocoon is a compact baby travel solution that turns into a seat, sleeping space, and storage bag. It adapts to your baby’s needs on the go while keeping essentials organized making travel easier, lighter, and more comfortable for parents.
Your inspiration
The idea for Cocoon came from observing the real struggles parents face while traveling with babies juggling bulky gear, carrying tired children, and constantly searching for safe, comfortable spaces. We noticed that most baby products are single-purpose and hard to manage on the go. This inspired us to create a modular, all-in-one solution that reduces the load while keeping the baby comfortable. The concept grew from real-life travel scenes airports, stations, family vacations where both parents and babies seemed overwhelmed. Cocoon was designed to simplify that chaos, combining sitting, sleeping, and storage into one Product.
How it works
Cocoon’s core innovation lies in its modular, design. It functions as a compact travel bag that converts into a baby seat or sleeping space. When unzipped and unfold, the flat base becomes a comfortable nap area. To switch into seating mode, the backrest lifts and locks securely, creating an upright seat with a safety harness to keep the baby secure. Adjustable panels support both sitting and sleeping positions, offering flexibility as per the baby's needs. Built-in compartments stay accessible in every mode, so essentials are always within reach. The entire system is designed to transition smoothly between bag, seat, and sleep setup in seconds. This space-saving, multi-functional design helps parents manage baby care with ease while traveling. Whether waiting at a station, boarding a flight, or on the move, Cocoon adapts instantly, reducing the need for multiple bulky items and making life on the go much simpler for both parent and baby
Design process
The design journey of Cocoon began by observing parents’ struggles while traveling with babies. We conducted surveys and interviews to deeply understand their needs comfort, storage, and ease of use. Based on this, we created rough sketches and a basic cardboard prototype to test folding mechanisms and space planning.Through continuous iteration and testing, we refined the modular transformation ensuring smooth shifts between seat, bed, and storage. Each version was tested by parents, and their feedback helped us improve everything from seat angles to storage access. To support the structure, we used PVC with foam covering in early prototypes for ease of shaping and quick modeling. However, in real-world application, these will be replaced by breathable, baby-safe fabrics for better comfort and airflow. Modularity was the core focus throughout requiring constant adjustment of hinges, joints, and fold patterns to ensure all modes work seamlessly. Every step, from surveys to testing, shaped Cocoon into a practical, compact, and user-centered travel solution.
How it is different
What makes Cocoon truly unique is its all-in-one modular design that combines a baby seat, sleeping space, and storage unit into a compact travel bag. Unlike traditional baby gear which often comes as separate bulky items Cocoon adapts to your baby’s needs while staying travel-friendly. Most existing products are either fixed in function (just a stroller, crib, or bag) or require multiple accessories. Cocoon, on the other hand, transforms seamlessly between modes without extra parts or tools. The built-in compartments remain accessible in every mode. Its folding mechanism allows quick setup in small spaces like airports, stations, or cars something most conventional products struggle with. While others focus on only comfort or portability, Cocoon balances both, making it ideal for parents who want convenience without compromise. This flexibility, combined with continuous user feedback and thoughtful iteration, sets Cocoon apart.
Future plans
Our next step is to build a more refined, real-material prototype and conduct thorough testing with parents in actual travel scenarios. This will help us evaluate usability, comfort, and modular performance. We aim to gather real feedback to understand if Cocoon is truly market-ready or needs further refinement.
