What it does

lack of immediate feedback, and poor healing effects among Generation Z. Through light intelligent monitoring, redesign of plant interaction methods, and virtual plant regeneration, it achieves natural healing

Your inspiration

Inspired by Z-generation's digital overload leading to psychological stress and the need for natural healing, combined with their consumption characteristics of pursuing instant satisfaction and emotional value, the design aims to bridge the gap between traditional plant maintenance and modern emotional needs through technological innovation.

How it works

Equipped with sensors such as light intensity and soil moisture to monitor plant data in real time, it meets the basic maintenance needs. Design a unique lighting language to visualize the state of plants. Based on gesture recognition and the growth characteristics of plants, design interactive methods, such as measuring the height of plants and perceiving their respiration. The APP integrates data analysis, AI diagnosis and a virtual plant planet. Dead plants are recreated through AR technology, and users can still replant them in the virtual world to extend their life.

Design process

Inspired by the digital fatigue and natural healing needs of Generation Z, this study explores their psychological stress, consumption characteristics, and solitary living trends. It was found that there were obstacles such as high cognitive burden and insufficient interactive feedback in plant maintenance. After analyzing the competing products, define the core requirements of light intelligence, strong interaction and heavy emotion. The form design is inspired by "The Little Prince", featuring planetary flowerpots and sensing star rings. The interaction includes seven major scenarios such as touch light flow, star ring shaking, and breathing light. The hardware uses Arduino and OpenCV to implement functions, and after Rhino modeling, it is 3D printed and assembled. The home page of the APP displays environmental data and generates interactive diaries. AR plant interaction is achieved with the help of Unity and other tools. There are also brand derivatives such as plant blind boxes and eco-friendly canvas bags.

How it is different

Unlike the emotional symbolization and heavy maintenance and care of traditional plant products, B612 redefines the interaction between humans and plants, focusing on emotional connection rather than maintenance. Secondly, in terms of interaction, the emotions of plants are expressed through light effects. A new interaction mode is constructed by combining the swaying of star rings and the flowing light effects. For instance, when touched, the star rings flickering symbolizes the "joy" of the plants. Finally, after the plants wither, a permanent virtual model is generated through photos. Users can continue to take care of them in the virtual planet and see the plants again in the AR camera, solving the problem of emotional loss and avoidance caused by the death of plants.

Future plans

Future plans include upgrading sensors for more accurate data, expanding AR plant libraries and NFT applications, developing smart home integration, and collaborating with mental health platforms to enhance the emotional healing ecosystem.
