What it does

The glasses use facial capture technology to assist the hearing-impaired in learning spoken language and are guided by AR lenses. The wristband can vibrate to provide feedback, helping them live independently. The product meets all their daily needs.

Your inspiration

I decided to solve this problem because I noticed that people with hearing impairments face many challenges in their daily lives. I hope to use technology to create a solution that can comprehensively assist them. I drew inspiration from the huge potential of facial capture technology.

How it works

Smart glasses use advanced voice recognition technology to convert others' speech into text, and then display it in real time on the lenses with the help of augmented reality (AR). Text-to-speech technology can convert text into synthetic speech to assist the hearing-impaired in practicing spoken English. The wristband uses sensors to detect the tone and emotional intonation of the speech of the hearing-impaired, and then provides feedback through different vibration patterns. In special circumstances, the device will connect to the emergency response and guidance database, providing real-time guidance to users through glasses and wristbands.

Design process

The design process began with extensive research on the needs and challenges faced by people with hearing impairments. I conceived numerous creative ideas and concepts and considered factors such as functionality, usability, and aesthetics based on the related products currently on sale. I drew the initial sketch and digital model of the device. Then, I used 3D printing and electronic components to build the prototype. Finally, on the premise of ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of the device, I determined a more cool and eye-catching appearance design plan.

How it is different

What sets this design apart is its comprehensive approach to addressing the diverse needs of the hearing impaired. Unlike other products that may focus on a single aspect, this device combines oral English learning, real - time communication assistance, emotional feedback, and emergency guidance in one integrated system. The use of advanced technologies like AR and vibration feedback in a wearable and user - friendly design makes it unique. It also offers a high degree of personalization and adaptability to individual needs, making it more effective and practical for the hearing impaired.

Future plans

I plan to further refine and enhance the device based on user feedback and technological advancements. I aim to expand its language capabilities to support more languages and dialects, making it accessible to a wider range of hearing impaired individuals. I also plan to explore partnerships with organizations and institutions to promote its adoption and distribution. Additionally, I hope to integrate more advanced AI features to improve its accuracy and efficiency in understanding and responding to speech. My ultimate goal is to make this device a standard tool for the hearing impaired, helping them lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
