What it does

Cute egg-shaped smart fridge camera (in egg slots). Servo-rotated, 1s ingredient scan. Tracks expiry, calculates nutrition, generates recipes, organizes fridges. Solves waste, chaos, tracking. For families, health-focused users. Makes fridges smart.

Your inspiration

We created A.egg.I to solve common fridge - related headaches. Seeing people waste food due to forgotten expirations, struggle with nutrition tracking, and get stuck in cooking ruts, we combined empathy for these pains with tech like AI and servo motors. The cute, egg - shaped design and smart scanning (using fridge egg slots) turn chaotic fridges into organized, healthy - eating helpers, making daily kitchen life easier.

How it works

A.egg.I, a smart "fridge assistant," fits neatly in egg trays with its egg shape. Its front camera, rotated 180° by an internal servo motor, sees all angles—even stacked or cornered ingredients. How it works: Scan new food (like taking a photo); its AI identifies items (milk, carrots, etc.). It auto-logs expiry dates (with alerts), nutrition (calories, protein), and storage spots, syncing data to your phone via an app. The servo motor enables periodic re-scans if ingredients move, updating records. No more hunting for forgotten items—A.egg.I tracks everything, turning fridge chaos into easy organization.

Design process

1. Concept Phase: Rooted in User Pain Points A.egg.I began with 50+ surveys and 10+ interviews, revealing 83% struggled with cooking, 52% with nutrition tracking, and 29% wasted food due to forgotten expiry dates. This pinpointed needs: simpler inventory, meal planning, and nutrition tracking. The concept: a compact tool with food-recognition camera, inventory management, recipe generation, and shopping lists—fitting fridge egg slots. 2. Prototype Development Early prototypes used key hardware: Mini OTG Camera (food recognition) with Servo motor SG90 (rotation to avoid blind spots), Arduino (control), and a buzzer (expiry alerts). Initial iterations refined expiry tracking, inventory management, and basic recipes, adding digital notes and linked shopping lists for usability. 3. Refinement User-focused improvements followed: expanded recipes with cooking time, calories, and nutrients (aiding 83% struggling with cooking); simplified setup for less tech-savvy users (e.g., elderly) with loud expiry alerts. 4. Present and Future Today, A.egg.I integrates inventory, recipes, shopping lists, and nutrition tracking. 2025–2026 plans: wireless charging, AI voice, and aroma sensors for fridge air quality. Guided by user needs, it evolves to "egg-sactly" fit kitchens.

How it is different

A.egg.I outshines Smarter FridgeCam and Fridge Eye with key edges: 1. Upgrades traditional fridges (no need for smart ones) via egg-shaped design fitting standard trays. 2. Cheaper than pricey options (e.g., Fridge Eye ~$2,650 HKD), easy to set up, with intuitive features (loud alerts, clear recipes) for all, including the elderly. 3. All-in-one: servo-rotated camera (no blind spots), recipes (time, nutrition), e-notes, linked shopping lists, plus personalization (diabetic, pregnancy, keto tools) missing in rivals. 4. Reliable (unlike poorly reviewed/failed competitors) with upgrades planned (wireless charging, AI voice, aroma sensors) and partnerships (Disney, hospitals). Affordable, adaptable—smart kitchen management for everyone.

Future plans

Next 1.5 years focus: enhancing features, partnerships, scaling impact. 1. 2025–2026 upgrades: wireless charging, AI voice (hands-free queries), aroma sensors (fridge air alerts), Disney-themed designs. 2. Key partnerships: - Retail (HKTVmall, Panda Mart) for direct ingredient purchases. - Hospitals for health-specific recipes (diabetic, postnatal). - Nutritionists/chefs for tailored recipes (keto, low-cal). 3. Goals: 50,000+ HK users (seniors, low-income focus); 30% food waste reduction; integrate with fitness/hospital systems for nutrition tracking. Redefining smart kitchen management—more inclusive, sustainable, essential.

Awards
