AirDisc Cooling Technologies cooling system

AirDisc Cooling Technologies system replaces more than century-old technology which ties humans as dependent victims of chemical refrigerants. It uses air with ten percent (10%) energy use only.

What it does

AirDisc Cooling Technologies cooling system uses free, abundant, earth-friendly air molecules in combination with atmospheric moisture as refrigerant of a revolutionary new innovative cooling system that has minimal use of energy to mitigate global warming.

Your inspiration

We are confronted by a challenge. Its name is Global Warming alias Climate Change. It endangers the survival of human civilization, even all life in our only planet. AirDisc Cooling Technologies system avails of open-system which foregoes chemical refrigerants that have cooling properties purposes but must be contained in closed-systems because of one or a combination of reasons such as: expensive, toxic, flammable, etc. In this energy-hungry world, such commodity is expensive. Chemical refrigerants demand high compression pressures; while AirDisc system does not, which means low energy need. My Inspiration: Initiate. Innovate. Inspire.

How it works

This cooling system uses an innovative centrifugal c-compressor that is unlike a rotary or piston type compressor which has high energy consumption. This innovation operates with as low as ten percent (10%) consumption only since c-pressure is limited by design to a predetermined low value, against that of said compressors. The c-compressor has an integral set of air scoopers that suck in air molecules from a given space and throws the same into a depository chamber for compression. Such action generates heat that is conducted and radiated thru thin walls of concentric cylinders; and which heat is guided out into the atmosphere. The compressed air with less heat after said heat transfer are then made to expand back into the original atmospheric pressure and directed into said space, a room. This high-volume low-pressure operation repeatedly transpires which result to airconditioning that is comparable and even better than conventional airconditioner units.

Design process

AirDisc Cooling Technologies system uses air combined with atmospheric moisture as refrigerant. It is radically more energy efficient than those that use chemical refrigerants in closed-systems cooling. It deploys open-system cooling approach which has low compression pressure and temperature, that has minimal low energy. Low pressure does not need strong /thick /costly materials. It employs thin-walled high-volume condenser cylinders for more effective heat of compression dissipation. Additionally, after heat dissipation: the cold air is directly discharged into the room; whereas, the cold chemical refrigerant must first be used to indirectly remove heat from the air before said discharge. The experimental prototype used for this cooling system attained 19 degrees centigrade, C. Further improvements by succeeding re-designs eventually yielded negative (-) 12 degrees centigrade. A digital temperature controller was not used to enable observation of its cooling capabilities. AirDisc Cooling Technologies currently promotes a new cooling system that is run by an electric motor for a 25-square meters floor area space with a 150-watt rating. This represents ten percent (10%) of the power needed for the given area which is 1,500-watt rating used by conventional airconditioners.

How it is different

In this era of worsening global warming, we must have cooling systems for humans to at least be able to adapt; and worse, to survive. We must cool ourselves without considerably warming our planet. We need to switch to open-system cooling to free us of the constraints posed by the use of chemical refrigerants. By switching focus to open-system airconditioning, I was able to examine an alternative to what is. My innovative design of a new kind of compressor has led me to use the same on my design for a cooling system. The outstanding result: AirDisc Cooling Technologies system uses air molecules with water vapor as refrigerant with minimal energy. AirDisc Technologies cooling system has savings potential to significantly reduce global energy consumption, if one were to consider that as much as sixty percent (60%) of peak electricity in sample cities come from airconditioning. We are thankful to Dyson Award for giving us the chance to present our initiative.

Future plans

A commercial prototype with the 150-watt rating will come this year, 2019. We need the support of people for a safe planet with Grant/s of $3M for 1st factory that produces 100,000 a.c. units annually; each has said 150-watt rating to cool at least 25-sqm. It is a showcase for those who want to help us combat what is a looming (if not yet) rapid climate change with existential threat to all life on our planet. Annual global demand for a.c. is more than 100 million units. We plan to eventually have factories for the required a.c. units to preclude rapid climate change. We aim to turn back the clock of global warming /rapid climate change.
