Function
Water Support is a sports water bottle for daily usages and can help aid/save your life in times of an emergency. It has a built-in water filter that can produce drinkable water when clean water sources are not available. Apart from that, the cover of the bottle can be used as an arm/wrist or ankle guard when needed. The cover also has material properties which dissipate heat, keeping the bottle cool when doing outdoor sports. Cooling gels which are attached to the inner sides of the cover to keep the water cold can also be used to treat heat stroke victims and to reduce swelling on sprained areas when needed.
Inspiration
People who do outdoor/extreme sports (rock climbing, camping, dirt bike sports etc.) are very prone to injuries such as sprains and heat stroke. When an emergency occurs, waiting for help to come can be frustrating, painful and sometimes even leading to death. Instead of sitting down helplessly, why not be able to do something to aid/save yourself or someone else.
We never know when disaster will strike. So being prepared can help.
Development
In order for the guard/cover to fit with the bottle nicely, the shape of the bottle had to be designed according to the shape of an average person’s arm/wrist and ankle. The cover of the bottle has to be strong, light weight and useful when not in use which led to the research of materials with suitable properties. Because the bottle is targeted at outdoor/extreme sports users, the bottle would get rather dirty after use and the curvature of the bottle will only make cleaning even more difficult. Thus, the main body of the bottle is split into 2 parts to enable easy cleaning. When clean water sources are not unavailable, putting muddy and contaminated water into the bottle and drinking from it using the built-in water filter is the only way to survive. But, for some, the thought of it could be mentally challenging, therefore leading the bottle to be able to transform into a funnel filter and a cup to collect the filtered water and then to drink from it.
